    Behold, the oldest hot spring in all of Japan! With a lineage tracing back to the 8th century A.D., this location is mentioned by name in Japan's oldest historical texts. 1,300 years later it still remains as an iconic landmark. The symbol of the Dogo hot springs themselves, the Main Building, or Honkan of Dogo-spa, is built in the style of classical Japanese architecture, and has stood for over 120 years. It's not only historical in appearance though! Every morning at 6 o'clock, its grand doors swing open to the sound of booming taiko drums, magnifying its majestic presence with the sounds of old Japan. Its alkaline hot springs are known as “O-hada no yu”, or water for the skin, due to its strong beautifying effects.
